MTZ Legal, a Chilean law firm specializing in cybercrime and cybersecurity, has been launched.
MTZ Legal joins the list of new law firms that have a tight focus in terms of specialization, seeking to respond new legal challenges in specific areas of law.
Led by Rufino Martínez, the firm provides advice in six practice areas: cybercrime, incident response, complex criminal litigation, economic crime, consulting and cybersecurity.
Martínez, a University of Chile, American University -Washington College of Law-, and Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile educated lawyer, advised on the drafting of Chile’s cybercrime bill, at the behest of Ministry of the Interior and the Chamber of Deputies.
When asked about why he set up MTZ Legal, Martínez explains that today’s market demands legal specialists who, when faced with a cybersecurity incident, have the ability to coordinate legal and technology management, on the one hand, and to work with police investigative bodies and the Public Prosecutor’s Office, on the other.
«It is an area of law that is evolving by the minute, generating new forms of fraud and posing challenges that force professionals to constantly update their knowledge,» he added.
